Questions about UK Visas

Questions about UK Visas:

UK Student visa

1.  Muhammad Usman: Can I work while studying in the UK, and if so how many hours allowed per week? What is different between A-rating colleges and HTS colleges?

You may be able to work in the UK depending on the type of student visa you have, and when you applied for it. You can find full information on http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigration/studying/adult-students/conditions

There are two Tier 4 sponsor ratings: Highly Trusted Sponsors (HTS) and 'A' rating.  HTS is a new category of licence which recognises sponsors who are achieving the highest level of compliance required by the UK Border Agency.

British Nationality for Infants:

2.    Ash Hussain: I am a British citizen of Pakistani origin and my wife holds Pakistani Passport with Indefinite Leave to Remain. We have a son now and I want to bring him to the UK. What type of visa do I need to apply for my son who is currently living in Pakistan, or should I apply for his British passport? I was unable to get the answer from Gerry’s.
Neither UKBA nor Gerry’s can provide personal advice to customers. You will be able to find the information you need by visiting these pages: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigration/partners-families/citizens-settled/children/ and http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/agencies-public-bodies/ips/

VISA Processing:

3.    Naveed Abdul: What does ‘forwarded to Islamabad OC’ and ‘under process at the BHC’ mean when tracking visa applications?
‘Forwarded to Islamabad OC’ means that the application has been forwarded to the visa application centre; and ‘under process at the BHC’ means that the application is being processed at the British High Commission.

VISA rejections/Appeals:

4.    mfahadkn via Twitter: @ukinpakistan parents spent 40k£ in a London hospital on surgery and their visa got rejected for a follow-up. What’s that about?
Everyone who applies for a visa needs to meet the requirements of the UK’s Immigration Rules. The requirements for a visit visa for medical treatment are at http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigration/visiting/medical/.  If someone is refused a visa, they are given full reasons in writing explaining the reasons for the decision.
5.    Why does it take so long for the ECM to send evidence to the Immigration Tribunal in the UK for appeal cases? They rarely adhere to the deadlines given by the Tribunal.
The UK Border Agency has a range of different target times that we are required to meet, depending on which stage the application is at.   There are sometimes delays in meeting these, and this can be due to a number of reasons, including late dispatch of appeals papers from the UK, and appeals against determinations.
6.    Mehwish Khurram: If I my application for leave to remain as Tier 2 (general) migrant in UK have been refused once, will the UKBA accept a new application from me from my home country?
You can always make a fresh visa application, and it is up to you to make sure that you meet the requirements of the Immigration Rules.

General:

7.    If I did not travel on a previous UK visa, is this likely to have any effect on my new visa application? Nouman Anwar

No. Every application is considered on its own merits.

  1. It all makes sense. People who have a legitimate reason to request legal residence should not worry at all.
